Presentation

Born in Lyons in 1900, Eugène Reuchsel belonged to a valorous dynasty of composers and organists. Although hequickly turned to the piano, he did not, for all that, forsake the organ and the catalogue he left bears witness to this.Devided up into three collections of four or five pieces, the Promenades en Provence were published between1938 (vol. 1 and 2) and 1973 (vol. 3). As their titles indicate, they strive to evoke sites – natural phenomena or sound elements – through the viewpoint of music that is a messenger of the subtlest suggestions. In every case, far from assembling a very ordinary album of "postcards", on the contrary, the musician finds charming correspondences between external facts and inner equivalences that, by means of sounds, they inspire in the poet.
